Programming the 2600 Microprocessor

Software for the 2600 was burned onto ROMs, which were put on little circuit boards with exposed edge connectors. At most, a simple cartridge can only have 4 kilobytes of memory. The 6507 already had a pretty small address bus. With TIA and Riot taking up address space, 4K is all poor programmers have left.
