What Is Individualism?
Individualism cannot be taken seriously as a description of the phenomenology of subjectivity. It does draw historically upon an idea that is broadly conceived as the soul. The power of the notion of the individual in wester madernity is that it remains accessible, regardless of whether you think about it in terms of a religiously ordained distinction between the soul and the body. To some extent then that takes the a sharp edge of a white suprematism and justification of imperialism with which individualism was born.
