The Dramatic Arrival of Children in Ladakh

The village is perched on sort of halfway up a mountain and the road that goes to the town goes down this valley. So you can see from a long way of people disappear down the valley or arrive. And about halfway through my field work, some of the kids who had been away at school, they arrived back from school. They hadn't been in the village for months. All the mothers were out there and their rooftops looking down the valley.
