Holland is at war with Spain in 1617, 1819. As the capital that left Holland comes back into Holland, interest rates begin to fall. And suddenly, what the rate of interest always does when it falls, it dries up the value of assets. So very, very quickly, this speculative mania begins to take off and you get the crazy situation where in the end, tulips were being traded at multiples of the price of a house in Amsterdam.
