The supreme court has basealy become the locus of policy making in the united states right now. Congress is barely able to act. The supreme court can do anything at once with five votes. And so we're seeing this massive shift and power away from the branch that are supposed to be making decisions, cause they can't function very well right now. It's made up of people who have never run for an election in their life.
Since the Supreme Court’s "shadow docket" decision to allow the Texas abortion ban to go into effect, a growing chorus of politicians and legal experts have questioned the court’s legitimacy. Vox's Ian Millhiser says the justices aren’t taking the criticism well.
