Introduction
Last year, Christine McVee of Fleetwood Mac decided to sell the rights to her entire song catalog to a UK-based investment trust called Hypnosis Songs Fund. Now, those songs are just a slice of more than 65,000 others that have been bought up by Hypnosis in the last couple of years. The process of buying the rights to songs and bundling them up is part of one of Wall Street's hottest trends over the past few years. That is turning music into an asset class.
