The bulk of Crime and Punishment is feverish. Dostoyevsky wrote crime and punishment fast and he wrote it for money. It's claustrophobic, it's cloying, it's dirty. You just want to get over with. Many will agree with me. Some won't. But I think whether it's your favorite or one of your favorites or not, no one can deny that it's significant and it's meaningful.
