The Failure of Liberalism
In order to attain a condition of self-governance and a kind of self-discipline, you need these institutions or forms in our society. You can see this throughout a kind of healthy society, you need an explosion of these kinds of institutions. But if your operative understanding of liberty is that we need to reduce the influence of those institutions that limit our free choice as individuals, then you're going to come to see increasingly both social and even state-backed effort to decrease them.
