i consider myself on the political left, but i also consider myself a liberal in this sense, whatever my misgivings may be. But do you think it's possible that conservatives ar right, that a society without some vision of the common good will unravel? Or maybe that the myth that the state can remain neutral eventually falls apart once a certain level of cultural and moral diversity is reached? Well, i think there are a couple of different answers to that. The first is that liberal societies do have their own culture.
