A lot of Jewish guys coming out of the war with an interest in jazz in Chicago and New York. There was a proliferation of jazz-oriented record companies that often only put out a few artists. Those, the big, like Columbia records, those big record companies just started out as New York guys releasing popular jazz tunes. We're talking about what laid the groundwork for indie rock.
