The writer was trying to break a client out of her naivety. She believed adults were angels, literally that's what they taught her. To read about these terrible things, i was also trying to imagine what i would have to be like to actually do that. It isn't clear to me that omplicit going along with the horror is less of a sin than actually perpetrating the actsow.
