CS Lewis Declined the Order of the British Empire, CBE
Lewis was named on the last list of honours by George VI in December 1951 as a commander of the Order of the British Empire, CBE. But we also know that he declined this honour. He wrote a letter to Winston Churchill and said there are always naves who assert and fools who believe that all his Christian writings are covert, anti-leftist, propaganda. So that's why he declined. And I've heard also that he was even offered a knighthood. Could he obviously line that too?
