The Search for Alexander
She reviewed Robin Lane Fox's The Search for Alexander in the LRB in 1981. I knew she was a great fan. She has this thing where when she was at university in 1926, and one of the things she discovered was the Ashmolean Museum. One is a blonde Ephie, which is a sort of 18 year old, 20 to 20 year old Athenian youth. And that fed into her first classical novel, The Last of the Wine.
