The Immortality of Clonal Organisms

If you could sort of evolve without having to, you know, have death, really, I guess you could have like immortal creatures then, couldn't you? If you're just doing horizontal gene transfer, you don't have to like eliminate the bad things by dying and make room for the new generation to be better. Well, you've got to be a bit careful when you talk about immortality because clonal organisms don't die. So it's not particularly helpful to think of immortality when you're talking about clonal organisms.
