What's the Difference Between Recycling and Recycling?

Emily's grandparents didn't have garbage collection for almost their entire lives in rural Ohio. They reused, recycled and composted all the old things because they're that old school depression era generation to where you don't want to waste. People would use glass bottles and then if the glass bottle broke, they would fix it. And I was like, how would they fix it? Apparently there's something called water glass. It's sodium silicate. If you heat it up, it basically fills in all the cracks and it's good as new.
