Is There a Coherent Philosophy of Education?
i feel that there is a lack of a coherent philosophy of education in the english speaking world. We have a bunch of philosophies that we apply to education, things like the idea of the freedom and autonomy of the individual. It doesn't feel quite like in east asia, where there's much of a clearer sense of what schools for and what teachers are for. i more or less started at very early stages of thinking bout education. I started to have why are we actually doing this? What's the point of the whole thing? These kinds of questions are difficult to answer in a western context but they're much easier to answer in an asian contexts.
