i think everyone can agree that we need to carefully weigh benefits and side effects. And it becomes pretty clear that most of our leading thinkers aren't doing this. i think on is an interesting example, because i think he's a very good thinker with certain engineering kinds of things, but i don't think he thinks about this ah very carefully.
