Corbo's Excavation of the Grotto
In 19 56, a corbo accidentally stumbled across this storage room in his excavations of the gosemine grotto. He didn't know what to make of it until he noticed patterns of ridges and dimples on the floor that were consistent with an oil press facility. Today, more recent excavations have allowed us to refine our understanding of how these rooms might have been used for olive oil production. We can then imagine the pressing of the olives, the pressing of those baskets, occurring in what is now the altar area.
