The advantage of using a maybe is that when you go to eventually unwrap the value and get that value out to put it in your react, you're going to have to handle both cases. And so with my maybe's and with most implementations of maybe, it's that way as well. So you can't just ignore the fact that it could be null, which is a big part of the upside of it, if that makes sense. Yes, it does. Although you need to bet, for better or worse, TypeScript kind of forces you to handle this as well.
