Dr. Sung Hyun Lee is Senior Fellow at the George H.W. Bush Foundation for U.S.-China Relations, and a visiting scholar at Harvard University's Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies. Dr. Lee will first briefly touch on why we were wrong to think that China was going to abandon North Korea after that time period. But then the focus is going to be on the ways in which China was able to influence,. through a series of high-level summits, North Korea's strategic thinking. And changed the way that denuclearization diplomacy evolved during that period.
