The Key Components of an Expert System
An expert system is an AI system that mimics the decision making ability and judgment of a human expert. Expert systems were popularized in the late 1980s, but they proved to be overly complex and brittle. Probabilistic systems are more like statistical approaches to AI. They tell you how the decision was made because that's what inference does.
