Kiril Boudana's legendary status inside the services was for a very daring raid in 2016 when he led a group to destroy helicopters in then Russian-controlled Crimea. The Russians later avenged that raid with several carbon attacks of their own, which killed his immediate superior and actually nearly killed him. He has become involved in very high profile, ultimately effective sabotage and assassination campaigns. His bravado and his sort of risky nature isn't universally welcomed.

We sit down with Kyrylo Budanov, Ukraine’s youngest-ever spymaster. He is intense, resolute—and oddly charismatic. A world of electrified transport is going to need lots of nickel for batteries. We argue that, environmentally speaking, gathering it from the seafloor clearly beats mining it on land (11:12).
