De Gare and Buton's Diaramas

Both de gare and buton were made knights in the french legion of honor by louis the eighteenth. As early as 18 24, he had set up a lab in the basement of the paris diarama building so that he could pursue his fascination with the field of photography. He just knew he was trying to capture light and use it to replicate the imagery of the world around him. Many diaramas popped up in europe and in north america after their success in paris and in london. These were run by other operators who were hoping to cash in on the popularity of the medium. But the original partners kept developing shows in only their two theatres.
