This thinning out of the labor force at the over 50s end seems to be a particularly British problem. In most other rich countries, we've seen that their workforces have been rebounding after the pandemic. One idea is that it's sickness, which is driving that trend. The only issue with that explanation is that it doesn't seem exactly to be what's happening.
