The Orientalization of the Mediterranean
Greeks were a confederation of city states who confederated only when it suited them. These focaan greeks would set up colonies such as alalia on the island of corsica and also the trade colony of masalia, which we know as the modern french city of marseilles. Ironically, the faceans were forced away from their homeland in the sixth century b c e by those same people who ran the phoenicians outf phoenicia. The rem s of this set up are still visible to day as two distinctly shaped and connected areas of water that are now part of the wider area of tunis.
