Is There a Justification for Punishment?

Free will sceptics reject one of the main justifications for punishment, called retributivism. Retributivism is idea that agent deserves to be punished for moral wrongs they have done. Some people raise moral objections to this account - perhaps it could justify punishing innocent people.
