The New Molasses Tank in Boston
The molasses tank on Commercial Street was plagued with problems from the start. Residents and dock workers noticed dark streets of molasses leaking down the sides. Isaac Gonzalez, a laborer in charge of unloading shipments to the tank Became so alarmed that he visited Arthur Gels Cambridge office to plead directly with him. He had already raised his concerns before Both to his direct supervisor and to Gels But little action had been taken This time he brought pieces of the tank that had fallen from the inside As proof that something was not right.
