A Space Mirror Could Change the Weather

A famous german rocket scientist, herman obert, has described how the mirror would work. It would be 60 miles in diameter, mounted in a pair of hoops. By focusing the sun's rays on the earth, the mirror would be able to melt ice and keep polar ports open all year round. Warming rays from the mirror could prevent sudden frosts. Small portions of the big mirror might be used to reflect light onto cities at night, causing an artificial day. And if the earth should ever be threatened by an invasion from another planet, yes, the mirror could be focused on the enemy space fleet at the right moment and destroy it completely.
