Sertorius, commander in the south, hertulaus had explicit orders not to engage metellus in a direct, pitched battle. Hertuleus disobeyed and challenged metellus - he lost his life. Sertorius helped him raise another army of new recruits from among the lusitanians. The only real tactical defeat sertorius personally experienced is still a pretty impressive story.
