HBO spent $15 million on each individual episode of the eighth and final season of Game of Thrones. A single season of television can exceed $150 million now for comparison that is about the total budget of the new Spider-Man movie currently in theaters. The show started very complex, and critics complained early on. By season five, the show was jumping between eight different storylines.
HBO hopes to win the streaming wars with House of the Dragon, a prequel to Game of Thrones. But GoT’s disastrous finale disappointed viewers, and the prequel is being released as HBO’s parent company, Warner Brothers Discovery, undertakes massive cost-cutting measures. Still: DRAGONS.
