The Importance of Suctioning in Tracheal Surgery

The most important is probably just the intensity of the nursing care in those first 24 hours. Suctioning, right, and that's the big thing. I think that our post-op trache orders require suctioning every hour. And so you can't have an endotracheal tube in place, not always but often, for dirt while you are actually operating. So how do we oxygenate ventilator patients when we can't have a breathing tube? There's a few different ways to manage that. One was something called high flow oxygen or apnic oxygenation.
