Do You Accept That You Have No Idea Who You Are?
I think about this a lot. I was listening to Neil Brennan on the Joe Rogan podcast. It's those inconsequential acknowledgement from other people that you have no idea who they are. The acknowledgement that you're doing good even though it means relatively meaningless. Food is at this disadvantage because it's so ephemeral. What you cook and you put on the plate last for at most nine minutes, right? But then I was like, maybe that's an advantage. Like a painter or sculptor or whatever is like trying to make something permanently relevant, permanently amazing. In a kitchen, it'd be one thing if you made a dish in 2007, and forever that dish just existed
