Elon Musk offered to take twitter private, but the board rejected his offer. They were then worried he would try to acquire even more stock and take over the company through a hostile acquisition. This is where the poison pill came in - this stipulation that any time one person acquires 15 % stake in the company, existing shareholders could buy new shares at a 50% discount. And so it w'uld be more expensive to take over thecompany. So they've put this in place and that's where things sit at the moment. We'll see what ilon's plan b isok.
