The Conscious Source of Many of Our Thoughts and Actions

It certainly seems to most of us that this is the world we're living in. The second assumption is that we are the conscious source of many of our thoughts and actions. However, there is every reason to believe that both f these assumptions are false. Everything that arises seems to be borne into existence by some previous state of the universe. Now maybe there's some place to stand where all this proves to be an illusion....
