Roman Abramovich's Investment in Chelsea
There is a tendency to look back and say, oh, those were the good old days. But football has never been as skilled, as technical, as physical. Roman Abramovich did not buy Chelsea because he loved football. He didn't buy Chelsea to engage in a sporting project that would bring him success. The reason he did it was to make sure he had a high profile at a time when ollie garks were going through some difficult periods. And so being visible gave them a sort of protection. There are political reasons in, in the investments that are being made now. We all know and understand what they are but I do think they are distinct from the game of football itself
