When Will an Event First Happen Over a Long Period?
If this was the century we went extinct, plausibly that would be the most important time in human history. If you spread out the probability mass too muchl as in your prior if you say that there's only one in a million chance this century could be most important, it kind of proves too much. And so there are other ways i think it could happen, but re related. So if this was the time we achieve what i call, in the book, existential security, which means kind of getting to a safe position, getting humanity to a point where we have civilizational wisdom and can take our timend and caution when we develop new technologies.
