The New Poor Law and Health Care Reforms

New poor law formalized a medical health care, essentially. Medical officers were appointed to look after the poor in each area of a union. They would also attend to the infirmary ward in the workhouse as well. This ot sounds like a super system. Are your idealizing it? There were lots of problems with it, specially in the first few years. But standards were very low. In some rural areas, there was a lack of e trained medical professionals. Yes, i think there's still a certain degree of discretion, even with these reforms.
