The Importance of Temple Worship

Joseph Smith delivered sermons in 1844 about the need to finish the temple as expeditiously as possible. He did this in part by explaining the eternal significance of rituals or what church members then and today call ordinances that would take place in the temple when it was completed. Adam Petty, a historian with the Joseph Smith papers, summarized some of the main topics that Joseph Smith preached about in 1844.
