The Differences Between Ecolalia and Gestalt Language Processing
Gestalt means a multi-word kind of chunk, like a phrase that a person may hear and use as a whole phrase before really knowing about grammar or being aware of an internal structure. Ecolalia is actually a key characteristic; it makes up the first stage of Gestalt language development. But in the end, when it all comes out in the wash, the children are using spontaneous, individually crafted language.
