Your Vote Matters More at the Local Level
The principle of subsidiarity means a lot here, that the most effective government is managed that the local. Your vote for your h o a board is far more significant, if there's only 300 homes, than your vote for president. Conservatives are sick of being called races and stuff by liberals who see them as bad people. So they want to separate from the union and get away from it.
