The Confusion of Religion and Nuns

As young Americans, other identities are now taking the place of what used to be our primary identities. So you have a situation in which these people aren't self-consciously secular people. It's no longer a master identity to them. They would rather emphasize other identities in their own lives because they don't feel connected to a formal religious organization.
