MacArthur: A General in the Army

FDR overlooked MacArthur's right-wing politics and tabloid-level public profile. FDR set the general to work as part of structuring the Civilian Conservation Corps. Many troops resent the communiques which treat the Pacific campaign as MacArthur's personal war. But even his critics admit the campaign is brilliant.
