The Origins of Language

Robin Dunbar suggests that what you need to do within these groups is track social interactions. Now in primates, you track social interactions and you groom up the hierarchy. As humans, we don't group tactilely generally. What we do is we groom vocally. So we use language. And with language comes ideas around symbolism and so on.
