That p includes the cortex, which is a kind of the outer shell of the human brain,. And it involves an area called the striatum, which is involved in action selection and holding back action. The thalamus is this incredible egg like structure in the centre of your brain that has different channels through it. It serves as a sort of gait as to which information is allowed to pass through up to your conscious experience, and which is not.
