The Unintended Consequences of Progress
In the early to mid 60s, gender egalitarianism and the increasing role of women in all aspects of life changed how American education was practiced. And so a lot of the education crisis in the United States involves the loss of high performing women who decide there are better things for them to do with their time than teach children. But I think what is, but I do agree with you that when you have other options, you'll pursue them. If we want to build a healthy society where people do want to do the kind of work that might not be as highly paid as other jobs, it brings meaning and purpose and reward to their own lives.
