Children were relegated to the fourth floor of flora stanley hotel. They slept there, played there and even ate there in a small windowless kitchen. Many stories centre around room four 18 - known as 'the jewel' The television has been known to turn on and off on its own. Guests have been startled out of their sleep by voices and sounds. Even the staff have had experiences. It is said that one chambermaid's gas explosion destroyed ten per cent of the hotel. She fell through the floor breaking both her ankles during an outage.
