The Exclusion of Evidence for Public Policy Reasons
A patron injured on a ferris wheel cannot use the liability insurance to argue that the city is culpable for the injury. The City of Los Angeles takes out an insurance policy on a new ferris wheel, it just installed. Liability insurance is not amiss able to prove negligence, but it is amissable for other purposes such as ownership, control, or agency.
