The Masking of Women on the Spectrum
Some professionals might dismiss someone going for a diagnosis by saying, oh, but you can make eye contact in the diagnostic interview. That's just showing that lack of understanding about the masking that women do. Sometimes we get women who are on the spectrum entering their adult food and they've been so scarred and actually traumatized really by a lot of these really horrible social interactions or social circumstances that they have had to face. It's almost like, I don't want to risk that happening again. You know, I always say the wrong thing. Everyone's always mad at me and I don't know why.
