Polygraph Screening Is No More Reliable Than It Used to Be

Polygraph screening has no basis and is no more reliable than astrology or reading tea leaves. Anybody can be ought to beat it in a few minutes. You either have to score the tests tightly so that they produce tons of false positives, or you score them so loosely that they won't catch anybody. Countless individuals are being falsely accused by their government of crimes and irreparably harmed by these accusations. We'd need to do extensive testing and ask all kinds of hard questions about what the results of brain imaging are really showing us. The technique is highly unreliable. If li detectives are that unreliable, should we expect them to improve? I think so.
