The Four Noble Truths of Buddhism
Buddhism arose in India in the six to fifth centuries BC at the hands of Siddhartha Gautama who was given the title Buddha, which literally means the enlightened or awakened one. In his quest for a means of living without suffering, Buddha recognized that life was in a constant state of change and nothing is permanent. One could find inner peace through a spiritual discipline to recognize the beauty and the transience of life while preventing one from becoming too attached to impermanent objects, people and situations.
